RING OF SALT AND STONE, is an adult fantasy/fiction book written for commercial audiences that will be the first in a series crafted with real-world scenarios played out in fiction by characters who are real and memorable with faults as well as virtues. You’ll meet characters you fall in love with, as well as characters you love to hate, and then they will surprise you, by being entirely human.
When a cursed tomb is opened by Prince Thurlbid (Turley), devastation is unleashed on the continent of Iram; quickly finding its way to an ancient clan if Irami, whose culture is based on a mix of native people’s world-wide from every color and race. The stakes are high as the Irami struggle against forces they don’t fully understand as well as real-world themes such as abuse, slavery, revenge, and recovery, whether things can ever be made right between oppressors and the oppressed, and the lies that are sold as history by those with the power to do so. Get ready to meet: Kana, Chenoa, Ashora, and O’tonal, who will be forced to find their way in a world that is foreign to them after the destruction of their clan by slave traders. Among the slave traders we encounter Trustan, who is torn between loyalties to his family, and his newly formed friendship with O’tonal. As Prince Andrus struggles against opposing forces to claim a throne that is rightfully his, we’ll meet Cavin, who is his lover, as well as Maja, who is forced against her will to the Irami continent where she will wed Prince Andrus in an effort to save her people.
A NOTE FOR THOSE WHO WONDER:
For those who didn’t already notice, I am a middle-aged white woman. My bachelor’s degree is in history with minors in both English and Spanish. While I have studied a number of native cultures world-wide, as well as slavery in many cultures, I do not feel my studies in any way qualify me to write about the experiences of Native Americans nor slavery and its affects in the Americas. The Irami were created using bricolage, which included culture from Persia, the Scottish Highlands, the Maya, Romani, and the Mosuo people of China - as well as those who suffer from Hypertrichosis (read more about it under the Wolf Moon button). Additionally, the slavery some of the characters experience is in no way representative of slavery experienced by black people and Native Americans in the Americas, where slavery was taken to incredible extremes not experienced in other cultures and times throughout history. RING OF SALT AND STONES is not your story and is IN NO WAY REPRESENTATIVE of anything you or your ancestors experienced - your stories deserve to be told, but not by me.
